or probably i'm just way late on that. for one, it's for a much smaller audience. although the potential audience is almost infinite, i don't think we're too the point yet that online ads have the same broad appeal. i mean, your mom doesn't talk to you about a new website, right? but she does tell you that she thinks the new levi's ad is "weird."
and that's one of the reasons i think the tiger commercial below is such an accomplishment. let's take one of the most controversial topics out there, spin it, and throw it in the faces of the broadest possible audience at the time when the controversy is at its peak (the masters). we're selling shoes on the backs of a serial adulterer and his dead dad. got a problem with it? that's because you're old fashioned, unhip, close minded. fucking brilliant. fucking next level.
it's those kind of ads that make me think that he u.s. has the most progressive, creative, interesting advertising and marketing ideas. by contrast, you see tommy lee jones selling "boss black" coffee on a billboard in japan.

actually, that's pretty badass, right? well, i think that's a bit unintentional. the japanese aren't the type to joke around. in mexico, you get this:

how gay? so i'm thinking we're setting the trends with advertising. but then a friend sent me a link to the new uniqlo site. pretty good. what are they even selling, you know? really good. maybe we're not so far ahead after all.
